Maplewood has a population of around 40,000 people and is 10 minutes’ drive from downtown Saint Paul, stretching along its northern and eastern borders.
The city was settled in the 1840’s and early settlers were attracted to the fertile landscape dominated by oak savannas, wetlands, and oak woodlands. Maplewood has four Natural Area Greenways open to public use. These provide opportunities for hiking and enjoyment of nature, and also a protective habitat for animals.
Home Styles
Maplewood residents are drawn to homes here because of the beauty of the natural landscape surrounding them. Easy access to greenways, trails, and parks are attractive features for families looking to buy in the city.
You can buy a well maintained older starter home under 2,000 square feet in the mid $200k range. For the price you can get a split level with 5 good-sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a spacious family room and big backyard.

For $300k+ you can expect features such as a larger master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in closet, informal and formal dining areas, energy-efficient walls and ceilings, and a deck overlooking a big private backyard or wooded lot.
