New Hope: A Home for New Families

New Hope, just northwest of Minneapolis, is an ideal suburb for new families and young professionals searching for their first real estate investments. There are four schools (part of the Robbinsdale Area Schools district) within close proximity to homes around the city, and nearby major highways make downtown work commutes quick and convenient.

Home Styles

Single-family, ranch-style homes are available in the New Hope area for $200,000–$350,000. These homes typically have three or more bedrooms, two baths, and detached garages. Many include finished basements with bathrooms and multiple rooms for spare bedrooms, offices and entertainment rooms. Spacious backyards are perfect for playing catch with the kids or hosting outdoor parties.

There are few newer-construction homes available in New Hope; however, there are many remodeled homes for sale. Savvy shoppers may find renovated real estate with finished basements, new windows and updated kitchens with stainless steel appliances for less than $300,000. These homes will have history, but look brand new.

Things to Do

With 20 parks and over 200 acres of land, New Hope provides endless opportunities for recreational activities for people of all ages.

At Northwood Park — New Hope’s largest — kick around the soccer ball on the open fields or shoot some hoops on the basketball court. During the summer, the Duk Duk Daze festival is held here, where you can listen to live music, have fun on carnival rides and watch dazzling fireworks displays.

Civic Center Park is another large park in New Hope with a lot to offer residents all year-round, such as lighted courts, lighted hockey and skating rinks, an outdoor theater, and a dog park. The skate park, New Hope Sk8 Pad, has ramps, rails, ledges and boxes for skaters to master their tricks and show off to their friends.

During the colder months, take the family ice skating at New Hope Ice Arena. Open skating is available September–March, and you can rent skates, if needed. An indoor walking track is also open to the public at no charge.

Beginners and experienced golfers will love New Hope’s nine-hole, par-three golf course. It’s surrounded by woods and has many bunkers and water hazards to challenge yourself. When you need a break, stop inside the clubhouse and grab a bite at the snack bar.

For the perfect date, plan a night at the Cinema Grill, a cinema restaurant with a full bar. Eat and drink while you watch a movie or comedy show. Choose from a wide variety of made-from-scratch food. There are also plenty of options for kids.

At New Hope Bowl on Saturday nights, October–April, it’s Moonlight Bowling. For those 21 and older, drink and bowl with friends for cash. Make a reservation and experience fun under the black lights while singing along to popular music videos.

Local Flavor

Pub 42 is another local hot spot for the 21 and older crowd, with a large bar and variety of dishes. A must-try is the Millionaire’s BLT, voted the “Best BLT in the Twin Cities.” Get a group together for taco Tuesday and bingo, or celebrate Sunday Funday all day. Happy hour lasts from 10 a.m.–close.

If you’re in the mood for authentic Vietnamese meals, dine at Gion Restaurant. This family-operated restaurant makes their dishes from scratch using fresh ingredients. They’re known for their stir fry and soups, but everything on the menu is delicious.
